Pin Cushions and Protea's

So I did a pin cushion. A no sew, no fuss, easy peasy, lemon squeezy, 25p to make, pin cushion.

I got an old pair of socks and tightly rolled them into a flat bottomed ball. I then cut a square of bright green felt and folded it like an envelope and secured it with a pin at the bottom.

I then tweaked the corners so it looked like a cushion and then handed to C to put lots of bight pink pins on it.

I think it looks rather cool. Simple, but cool.

And then there was a knock at the door. A gorgeous bouquet of flowers form my childhood best friend. A bouquet full of South African flowers. Including one of my favourites, Protea.

I arranged them in an old sugar jar I picked up in North Yorkshire last year. I think it suits them well. Far more chic than a glass vase!Don't you think?

The beauty of this bouquet is that it can all be dried. So after a couple of weeks in the vase I am going to hang them in the conservatory and dry them. I'll let you know how I get on.

I have also managed to save a very sad looking rose this week. It's looking more than glorious now, isn't it. I just snipped of a good two inches off the stem and put in cooled boiling water. It worked a treat!

That's all for now folks. I'm going to try and get some crocheted lines done on my blanket and also have a good hard think about my felty jubilee project.

Doesn't craftiness send little bubbles of excitement all over your body sometimes?!

Have a lovely Saturday. xxx

  1. Hi Kate! I love the pin cushion idea and the flowers in the old sugar jar. I still don't own a vase because I never see anything I like! Thank you for the crafty inspiration :)

    1. Piece of Cake to Make!

To be fair I could have been more adventurous, but the pink pins were so cool I didn't want to drown them in lots of detail! I love pink and green together.
